The media access control address (MAC) address is a unique address assigned to the network card in your device. It works kind of like a postal address but instead of you receiving post through your letterbox; a network sends internet traffic to your mac address.

They need your permission because if you connect to a WiFi network then the network can see your MAC address. The MAC address is considered personal data in the GDPR, and it is subject to the GDPR rules. If you provide Public WiFi then you need to know about the legal compliance required.

- On the Home screen, tap the Menu button and go to Settings.
- Tap About Phone.
- Tap Status or Hardware Information (depending on your model of phone).
- Scroll down to see your WiFi MAC address.
Android Tablet
Finding the MAC Address on Android Tablet
- Tap Menu>Settings
- Scroll down, tap About Tablet then tap Status and scroll down to view WiFi Mac address.
